Summit and Medina Counties Celebrate In-Demand Jobs Week May 3-7

The fourth annual In-Demand Jobs Week of Summit and Medina Counties, part of a statewide celebration of jobs, industries, and skills that are in-demand in Ohio, will be held May 3-7, 2021. Throughout the week, both Counties will host onsite recruitments for area employers from in-demand industries as well as a virtual information session for interested job seekers.

The daily events will primarily focus on the fields of information technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and other occupations determined to be in-demand locally, while also providing opportunities to learn about services available through the Summit and Medina OhioMeansJobs Centers, including workshops, career counseling, and training opportunities – all of which can be delivered virtually.

“As we slowly begin to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, Summit County residents are looking for good jobs and business are looking to hire strong candidates. In-Demand Jobs week is a special chance for job seekers and employers to find one another,” said Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro. “I encourage residents to reach out to the OhioMeansJobs Center to learn more about in-demand jobs and local employment opportunities.”

Those Summit County residents interested in learning more can begin their search for employment or training by visiting the OhioMeansJobs Summit County Facebook page, facebook.com/omjsummit or by calling 330-633-1050. In Medina County, residents can visit their OhioMeansJobs Medina County Facebook page at facebook.com/omjmedina, or call 330-723-9675.

In-Demand Jobs Week is also beneficial for Summit and Medina County businesses and employers. Local businesses and companies will have the chance to build a talent pool by meeting prospective employees and generating interest and knowledge in local job opportunities within their respective industries. “Medina County is thrilled to once again take part in Ohio In-Demand Jobs Week,” said Medina County Commissioner Colleen Swedyk. “In-Demand Jobs Week is a great opportunity to showcase Medina County’s in-demand opportunities that allow our community members to earn sustainable wages and enjoy economic growth and prosperity. We encourage Medina County residents and employers to reach out to the OhioMeansJobs Medina County center to take advantage of free services available to help connect job seekers with job opportunities, particularly within our local in-demand industries such as healthcare and manufacturing.”
