ODJFS Hosting Virtual Skilled Trades Job Fair on June 22
COLUMBUS — Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) Director Matt Damschroder invites Ohioans looking for a career in the skilled trades to attend a statewide Virtual Skilled Trades Job Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22. Starting on June 13, those interested can preregister at https://bit.ly/3PH9LkU.
“We often hear from employers that they need skilled workers, and this job fair will be an excellent way for them to find great candidates,” Damschroder said. “Skilled trades are an excellent career path. Individuals can make good money, earn while they learn, and easily find a job.”
More than 50 employers have registered to participate. All have open positions now, in communities across the state. They’re looking to hire welders, mechanics, carpenters, electricians, tool and die makers, plumbers, insulators, programmers, and more.
Preregistration is not required. However, by preregistering, individuals can upload their resumes in advance, specify what industry they’re interested in, and potentially be contacted by employers looking to schedule an interview. Both audio and video interview options will be available during the fair. Attendees also will be able to send chat messages to employers. Those who preregister will get reminders about the event itself and any interviews they have scheduled.
ODJFS oversees a variety of free employment-related services for Ohioans. This includes ApprenticeOhio programs, which offer a combination of paid on-the-job training, related technical instruction, and mentoring for skilled occupations.
