Job Fair Announced to Address Job Seekers Transportation Need
Job seekers are invited to participate in a job fair at The Common Ground on February 28, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM, located at 220 N. State Rd. Medina, OH 44256. This event is being offered as part of the Ways to Work pilot. The pilot program uses a rideshare model to transport people to and from work in areas of the county identified as having the highest demand for workers.
The Summit and Medina Workforce Development Board, OhioMeansJobs Medina County, Community Action Wayne/Medina, and United Way of Summit & Medina are collaborating to offer Ways to Work. Ways to Work is a Special Grant through the State of Ohio awarded to the Summit and Medina Workforce Development Area for business resource development in Medina County. The goal of this pilot is to inspire employers to offer coordinated transportation as a benefit to employment.
The Ways to Work program will provide transportation for Medina County residents who are hired by employers participating in the Ways to Work Job Fair. Program participants will also receive financial coaching from United Way of Summit & Medina’s Financial Empowerment Center and may receive career development support from OhioMeansJobs Medina County.
All job seekers are invited to attend the job fair, not just those needing assistance with transportation. Job seekers can register for the job fair at bit.ly/3utSCFk and can follow the Facebook event for updates on participating employers at bit.ly/WaysToWorkJobFair. Transportation to the job fair can be arranged with Community Action Wayne/Medina by February 21, 2024, by calling (330) 641-6889.
Employers interested in participating may contact Al Langford, Recruiter at OhioMeansJobs Medina County at Albert.Langford@medinaomj.org.
